Hypnosis is a state of highly focused concentration characterized by an enhanced capacity for response to suggestion. Hypnosis allows the client to process information in a different way than they would in a normal alert state. Hypnosis is a highly effective tool that can be used to create changes in unwanted habits and behaviors.
A hypnotherapy session is relaxing; similar to a guided meditation.
Results of a 2007 Comparative Study by American Health Magazine:
Hypnotherapy: 93% success after 6 sessions.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: 72% success after 22 sessions.
Psychoanalysis: 38% success after 600 sessions.

You are in total control of yourself while in hypnosis. A hypnotherapist could never get you to say or do something that you consciously don't want to do.
A session can last between 45 - 90 minutes, depending on various factors. Your first session is usually about 70- 90 minutes.
There is not a specific number of sessions. It varies from person to person and depends on what you're trying to achieve. Some clients experience immediate results after their first session while others notice a gradual change over a short period of time.
